Preparing Gourmet Coffee

Everyone has a strong desire to have a taste of gourmet coffee. The word "gourmet" is an alteration of the French noun "groumet", which pertains to a wine maker's assistant or servant. In English, it is translated as groom. Today, it refers to a food expert when used as a noun, and special when used as an adjective that describes food.

Most people wonder how gourmet coffee is made. A little background on the beginnings of coffee would give a better understanding about this.

It is common belief that coffee was first found by Ethiopians in the year 1000 A.D. A tribe there had the beans ground and eaten. They observed the beans to be highly stimulating and they liked the effect so much. On the other hand, the Arabs brought the beans to their country as red berries and cooked them in water. Everyone delighted in the resulting blend.

They began to cherish the concoction they had made. To keep a steady source of the beans, they tilled their land and planted the bush. They called the drink "kahwa" from the Turkish word "kahve", which when translated would mean "something that keeps one awake."

For gourmet coffee lovers, it is good to note that there are only two kinds of coffee beans worldwide: Arabic coffee and robust coffee. Of these two, Arabic coffee is preferred by most drinkers. It is being cultivated worldwide, amounting to almost 2/3 of the global supply.

Anybody can have a taste of the specially-made brew by using Arabic coffee beans because of the rich and deep taste they offer. Arabic coffee beans surpass the quality of robust coffee. One who delights in coffee will eventually realize that its taste is dependent on the person who is drinking it. Certain flavors are added to the beans at the time of roasting. These make the taste and flavor of the resulting brew special.

Preparing gourmet coffee is effortless once one gets to know the best way to do it. Some keep on trying to make excellent coffee and fail to produce it, but there are those who tried only one time and instantly got good results.

People who cherish coffee do not mind the challenge of coming up with an excellent-tasting brew. To them, achieving the perfect taste that they have always wanted would soon be realized with persistence. Hitting the mark would have to be a realization of that continuing dream.
